Verkeersschool Rij Platform respects your privacy and handles your personal data with care. In this privacy policy we explain which data we collect, why we collect it and what rights you have.

1 – Personal data we process

Verkeersschool Rij Platform processes personal data because you use our services and/or because you provide it to us yourself. We process the following personal data:

  • First and last name
  • Gender
  • Date and place of birth
  • Address details
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Bank account number (for payment processing)
  • Other personal data you actively provide, for example through correspondence, telephone contact or a profile on our website or app
  • Contact details of the student via our student app

2 – Special categories of personal data

Our website and services are not intended for persons under the age of 16, unless they have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. We cannot verify whether a visitor is over 16. We therefore recommend that parents are involved in the online activities of their children.

If you believe that we have collected personal data from a minor without consent, please contact us at info@rijplatform.nl. We will delete this information as soon as possible.

3 – Purpose and legal basis for processing

Verkeersschool Rij Platform processes your personal data for the following purposes:

  • Performance of the agreement – scheduling and providing driving lessons, booking exams at the CBR and other services
  • Processing payments and sending invoices
  • To call or email you when necessary for our services
  • To inform you of changes to our services and products
  • To give you the opportunity to create an account in our student app or planning system
  • Tracking lesson progress and exam readiness via our planning system (Plango)
  • To comply with legal obligations, such as data required for tax returns and administration

The legal bases for processing are:

  • Performance of the agreement – for everything necessary to provide your driving education
  • Legal obligation – for data we are legally required to retain
  • Legitimate interest – for communication about our services
  • Consent – where applicable, for example when creating an account

4 – Automated decision-making

Verkeersschool Rij Platform uses the planning system Plango (Plan-Go BV) for scheduling driving lessons, tracking lesson progress and managing student data. This system supports our administrative and operational processes.

Final decisions regarding your driving education, exam readiness and planning are always made by an employee or instructor of Verkeersschool Rij Platform, not solely by automated systems.

5 – How long we retain personal data

Verkeersschool Rij Platform retains your personal data no longer than strictly necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. We apply the following retention periods:

  • Customer and student data: up to 2 years after the end of the agreement, unless a legal obligation requires a longer retention period
  • Financial administration (invoices, payments): 7 years based on the statutory retention obligation (Tax Authority)
  • Email communication: up to 2 years after the last contact

6 – Sharing personal data with third parties

Verkeersschool Rij Platform does not sell your data to third parties. We only share your data with third parties where necessary for the performance of our agreement with you, or to comply with a legal obligation.

We share your data with the following parties:

  • CBR – for booking theory and practical driving exams
  • Plango (Plan-Go BV) – our planning and management system for driving schools
  • Payment processors – for processing payments
  • Accountant/bookkeeper – for financial administration and tax returns

With all parties that process your data on our behalf, we conclude a data processing agreement to ensure the same level of security and confidentiality. Verkeersschool Rij Platform remains responsible for these processing activities at all times.

7 – Cookies

Verkeersschool Rij Platform uses technical, functional and analytical cookies that do not infringe on your privacy.

A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your device when you first visit our website. We use cookies for:

  • The technical functioning of the website
  • Remembering your preferences and settings
  • Optimising and improving our website (anonymous statistics)

We do not use tracking cookies or social media cookies for advertising purposes without your consent.

You can refuse or delete cookies via the settings of your internet browser. Please note that certain features of the website may no longer work properly if you disable cookies.

8 – Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights:

  • Right of access – you can request which personal data we process about you
  • Right to rectification – you can have incorrect data corrected
  • Right to erasure – you can request deletion of your data, where no legal retention obligation applies
  • Right to restriction of processing – you can request that we temporarily restrict the processing of your data
  • Right to data portability – you can request to receive your data in a digital file or transfer it to another organisation
  • Right to object – you can object to the processing of your data based on legitimate interest
  • Right to withdraw consent – where processing is based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time

You can submit your request via info@rijplatform.nl. To verify your identity, please include a copy of your ID. Please black out the following information: passport photo, MRZ strip, passport number and BSN (citizen service number). We will respond within 4 weeks.

If you believe we are not handling your data correctly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority:

9 – Security of personal data

Verkeersschool Rij Platform takes the protection of your data seriously and implements appropriate technical and organisational measures to secure your personal data against:

  • Unauthorised access
  • Loss or theft of data
  • Misuse or unauthorised modification
  • Unwanted disclosure

Verkeersschool Rij Platform reserves the right to amend this privacy policy. Changes will be published on our website. We recommend that you consult this page periodically.
